Early wooden pallets were made between 1920 and 1930 AD (equivalent to 1299 to 1309 AD). The old wooden pallets did not have their present-day shape, and their use was somewhat different from today's pallets. The old pallet models were called Skid. A skid was a simple wooden board on which goods could be piled and moved with the help of wheels. Of course, skids date back to ancient Egypt.
Wooden pallets in the style we know today were not made before the invention of the forklift. When the first forklifts entered the transportation arena in 1915, skids were slowly adapted to these machines. In fact, bases were built under the wooden boards to make it possible to pick up the pallets with a forklift.
Little by little, the shape of the pallet changed from a single board to today's shapes. In fact, this incident was the basis for the formation of various types of wooden pallets in terms of design. The first patent for a modern-style palette dates back to 1925 (about 98 years ago) and by a person named Howard T. Hallowell.

The main use of pallets is to transport heavy loads with cranes and forklifts, as well as store products and loads in large warehouses and sheds. Usually, large and small manufacturing factories use pallets to store their products in the warehouse so that the product does not come into contact with moisture. It is also difficult to move products and heavy loads, and for this reason, these products are placed on wooden pallets and transported with forklifts and cranes.

Making wooden pallets is done with different types of wood such as beech wood, Russian wood and other dry wood. Of course, in recent years, the use of pressed wood or pressed wood has also been used to make pallets.
